CAA International moves to a members-based organisation

Dear CAA member or ex-member,
According to recent constitutional changes, CAA International will move to a members-based organisation model starting on 1 January 2015. This may have some implications for you. Please read carefully throughout, and contact us if you have questions.

The major change is that, from now on, being a member of CAA and attending a CAA conference will be two separate and different things, much more than before. You will be able to manage your membership details and renew your membership (or become a member if you are not one) online through the new http://members.caa-international.org portal. Separately, each year's conference will allow you to register for that conference online through the http://ocs.caaconference.org site, but you will need to be a member in order to do so. To make things easier, you will be able to enrol as a member and register for a conference in a single step through the conference web site. You will see all this working for the Siena conference in early 2015.

These are some tips and facts that you should take into account as well:

  • The membership portal at http://members.caa-international.org is already up and running. You can create your account there and update your profile as necessary.
  • Please use the same email address when you register for a conference as you have used for your membership account. Otherwise the system won't be able to match your details.
  • If you have enrolled as a CAA member as part of conference registration, your membership portal user name will be your email address.

We hope that these changes will allow CAA to keep developing its annual conference and, at the same time, grow beyond it to new areas of activity.

If you have questions or find issues with the new organisation model and the associated web sites, do not hesitate to contact us at any time. Thank you.

Best regards,

Cesar Gonzalez-Perez
CAA International Membership Secretary

Call for papers: International CAA 2015 Conference

The Organising Committee wish to inform you that the Call for Papers for the 43rd International Conference on Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology (CAA) is open. Workshop/Special Session on "Remote Sensing and GIS for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage"

Remote Sensing (RS) in its various forms (aerial archaeology, satellite imagery, hyper spectral, LiDAR/ALS, UAVs, Geophysics, etc) has always been adopted from archaeologists world-wide. Archaeological survey is depending on these techniques; nevertheless they cannot reveal all the secrets of what is hidden beneath the soil.

In this session we would like to highlight good practices of RS techniques for archaeology and cultural heritage through case studies from all over Europe (and beyond) making good use of one or more RS techniques. A special focus should be given on the benefit of the combined interpretation of more than one data source.

We would also especially welcome papers that offer new ideas for new techniques (at least in their adaption for archaeology and cultural heritage) which have the potential to address some of the issues that haven't been solved so far.

Registration - Abstract Submission
Delegates can register and submit their abstracts at the RSCy2015 at the conference website.
